What Happened?

Shares of luxury furniture retailer Arhaus (NASDAQ: ARHS) jumped 10% in the afternoon session after the company delivered a significant top- and bottom-line beat for the second quarter, showcasing resilient consumer demand amid a choppy macroeconomic environment for home goods.

The company reported net revenue of $384.9 million (a 7.4% year-over-year increase), comfortably clearing Wall Street's $366.8 million estimate. This top-line strength was underpinned by a 4% increase in Comparable Delivered Sales and a highly encouraging 12.5% surge in Comparable Written Sales, proving that the brand's premium, artisan-crafted positioning continues to resonate with its core demographic.

Unpacking the Margin Surge While the headline earnings numbers look like a monumental operational blowout—with GAAP EPS of $0.28 crushing the $0.16 estimate and Adjusted EBITDA coming in 51% above consensus at $70.47 million—investors must look under the hood. The massive margin expansion was heavily driven by a one-time $23.8 million benefit from IEEPA tariff recoveries (following a U.S. Supreme Court ruling invalidating certain historical tariffs).

Rather than letting this windfall sit idle, management is utilizing the cash to offset elevated operating costs and strategically fund its ongoing showroom expansion. Arhaus ended the quarter with 109 locations and reaffirmed its aggressive pipeline of 10 to 14 total showroom projects for the year. Backed by the tariff refund and steady top-line execution, the company confidently raised its full-year Adjusted EBITDA guidance to $165.5 million (well above the $152.7 million consensus) while maintaining its $1.45 billion full-year revenue outlook.

What Is The Market Telling Us

Arhaus’s shares are very volatile and have had 28 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.

The biggest move we wrote about over the last year was 5 months ago when the stock gained 10.3% on the news that the company reported fourth-quarter 2025 results that beat Wall Street's expectations for revenue and profit. For the quarter, revenue grew 5.1% year on year to $364.8 million, beating analysts' expectations. The company's profit was also a bright spot, with GAAP earnings per share of $0.11 coming in 15.8% above consensus estimates. This strong performance appeared to outweigh some of the report's weaker points, such as a 2.8% decline in same-store sales and a drop in operating margin from 8.2% to 5.6% year on year. Additionally, the company's revenue guidance for the first quarter of 2026 came in below expectations. However, the beat on both the top and bottom lines for the reported quarter, along with a better-than-expected EBITDA forecast for the full year 2026, provided investors with enough positive news to send the stock higher.

Arhaus is down 20.4% since the beginning of the year, and at $9.04 per share, it is trading 29.4% below its 52-week high of $12.80 from August 2025. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Arhaus’s shares at the IPO in November 2021 would now be looking at an investment worth $706.02.
