BISMARCK, ND / ACCESS Newswire / February 18, 2025 / The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library (TRPL) is proud to announce a $2 million donation from ConocoPhillips. This generous gift follows a landmark commitment the company made to conserve Theodore Roosevelt's family ranch, Elkhorn Ranch, which is part of Theodore Roosevelt National Park and within sight of the library's location. The agreement ensures that over 550 acres of endangered land will remain undisturbed, preserving not just the scenic viewshed but also President Roosevelt's legacy of conserving America's outdoors for future generations.
"ConocoPhillips is pleased to support this new library which honors a true American hero -- our country's 26th U.S. president and a true conservationist pioneer," said Ryan Lance, chairman and chief executive officer. "We are delighted to support this project and its awe-inspiring design which expands upon Roosevelt's values and ideals for leadership, citizenship, and environmental conservation."
ConocoPhillips, which has a decades-long history operating in North Dakota, has remained committed to conservation and environmental stewardship since its early beginnings, aligning with TRPL's mission and commitment to sustainability as the first carbon-neutral presidential library. The protection of Elkhorn Ranch is a critical component of preserving the natural landscape that inspired President Roosevelt's conservation legacy, and their gift will further contribute to the world-class visitor experience that the Library will provide in honoring the life and work of Theodore Roosevelt.
"Thanks to ConocoPhillips' incredible generosity, one of America's most cherished landscapes-where Theodore Roosevelt's conservation vision was born-is now protected for generations to come," said Robbie Lauf, Executive Director of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. "This preservation effort, paired with their transformative gift, ensures we can inspire and educate the public about Roosevelt's enduring legacy for decades."
