AGI Kicks-Off Third Annual Safety Week

Today, Paul Householder, President and CEO of Ag Growth International (“AGI”), announced the official kick-off of the company’s third annual Safety Week (April 24-28, 2023), designed to remind its global employee network of the critical importance work-site safety plays in preventing injury and promoting health and wellness. With worksite safety as one of AGI’s core values, the company sets the tone with a week of awareness activities, best practice education, and recognition around the theme, “Everyone Has a Hand in Safety.”

“At AGI, our goal is that every employee – regardless of where they work or the type of environment they work in – returns home at the end of each day in the exact same working condition in which they arrived. This is a top priority – one that I personally take very seriously,” commented Paul Householder.

Over the past few years, AGI has consistently reduced the number of reported and lost time injuries – a trend it aims to continue. A recent study of its worksite safety data revealed that many injuries come down to hand safety.

“Wearing the right PPE – the right safety gloves – and following safety procedures is an excellent way to eliminate these injuries," noted Householder. “Safety is a priority that unites AGI’s manufacturing facilities, office locations, and job sites across the world. By creating safe work conditions, we are building stronger, more supportive environments for our teams. Safety is a key part of our One AGI Culture.”

To kick off the week, employees, globally, will engage in a wide range of location-based safety activities including hand safety training. AGI, also, will launch its third annual Safety Awards, an employee-nomination program that acknowledges individuals, teams and projects exemplifying safety best practices and performance.

“Our aim is to make the Safety Week agenda and activities not only fun, but also relevant with day-to-day operations,” said Harsha Bhojraj, AGI Vice President of Manufacturing and Safety Lead. The award categories include:

  • Outstanding Performance by an individual recognizing exceptional work or a safety-related event.
  • Overall Safety Performance for a location or team showing successful improvement in safety lagging indicators, recordable and lost time incident rate.
  • Progress in Safety for a location or team showing achievement in safety performance over the last 12 months.
  • Safety at a Customer Site or Project for well-executed safety.

“The award program allows us to hear stories about our teams’ greatest safety champions and accomplishments. AGI will be accepting employee nominations for those who do an exceptional job of making our workplace safer,” said Bhojraj. Nominations begin during April’s Safety Week and run through October with awards to be made in the first quarter of 2024.
