“At GE Appliances, we believe innovation starts with zero distance—being right next to our consumers and our communities. Our zero-distance philosophy brings teams together across our business and alongside our neighbors to learn, solve real problems, and build trust,” said Kevin Nolan, President & CEO of GE Appliances. “Blue Wave is a celebration of that culture. When our people roll up their sleeves—whether it’s adapting toys for children, refreshing a science center, or improving the flow at a local food pantry—we’re not just volunteering. We’re listening, learning, and getting better at delivering the products and experiences families need. That’s the power of coming together as one GE Appliances with our communities.”
This year’s Blue Wave projects reflect the breadth of employee passions and local priorities, including:
- Fighting Food Insecurity: Serving at food pantries; delivering meals; building shelves; and improving distribution processes.
- Beautifying Shared Spaces: Environmental clean-ups and landscaping at public parks, trails, and beaches.
- Expanding Access and Inclusion: Adapting mechanical toys for children with physical limitations to support therapeutic play and learning.
- Inspiring Future Makers: Refreshing the local museums and schools with paint, deep cleaning, and training teachers and staff on innovative maker projects that teach children the basics of “making” and STEM education.
