Global Girls Scholarship Foundation Chairman, Dr. Shyam Singh Bishen Appointed as Honorary Professor by the School of Medicine and Public health, University of Newcastle

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. - December 22, 2025 - Global Girls Scholarship Foundation (GGSF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity organization based in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, USA, is proud to announce the appointment of its distinguished chairman Dr. Shyam Bishen as Honorary Professor by the School of Medicine & Public Health, University of Newcastle.

Dr. Shyam Bishen is a well-recognized educator, healthcare executive, board member, and philanthropist with over 30 years of global experience in academia, business, and philanthropy. In addition to academic institutions and Fortune 500 companies, he has worked at world renowned non-profit organizations like Gates Foundation and World Economic Forum.

Dr. Bishen is qualified with a Doctorate from the University of Newcastle. He also holds a master’s in business administration from Washington University in St. Louis. In addition, he received leadership training from Harvard University through a year-long program.

“It is a privilege to be appointed Honorary Professor,” said Dr. Shyam Bishen. “I am looking forward to using my education and experience in public health arena to educate young minds.”

Dr. Bishen co-founded Global Girls Scholarship Foundation with a strong belief in what Secretary General of United Nations, Kofi Annan once said "To educate girls is to reduce poverty". Providing education to underprivileged girls in developing countries is one of the most important methods to bring them and their families out of poverty. Education and training will enable these young women to get jobs, earn income, care for their families, participate in their communities, economies, and ultimately help change the world for better.

Founded in 2019, Global Girls Scholarship Foundation (GGSF) is dedicated to educating underprivileged girls in developing countries by providing them with scholarships, other academic resources, and educational & career guidance needed for their success. So far, GGSF has already awarded close to 50 scholarships in India and Africa and plans to scale it up to 100s of girl students in coming years.
